Kinnaree (Kinaree) are Thai names of beautiful females creatures from the Thai version of the Ramayana mythology, holy revered text of Hindus, is believed by many archaeologists and historians to be a collection of stories from Indian mythology. Kinnorn or Kinnara are male counterpart of Kinaree. They are live in Himaphan Forest. 

The Thai Kinnaree looks like a beautiful woman with an angel-like costume. Her upper part is female and the lower part is that of a swan and the lower body is that of a bird including wings so she can fly and swim. She also can fly between the mythical and real worlds. The Kinnaree is renowned for her excellence in dance, song and poetry, and is a traditional symbol of feminine beauty, grace and accomplishment. Her graceful form is often seen in sculpture, traditional architectures, and temple murals. The most famous Thai Kinnaree is 'Manorah'. The dance 'Manorah-Bachayan' featured in the literature is one of the most esoteric Thai classical dances in Thailand. 

Kinnaree statues can be seen at nearby Wat Phra Keo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), within the grounds of the Grand Palace, in Bangkok Thailand. The Wat Phra Kaew, full official name Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram, is regarded as the most famous Buddhist Temple in Thailand. Several statues in the temple area resemble figures of the many creatures from this story, most notably the giants (yak), five-meter high statues. Also originating from the Ramayana are the monkey kings and giants which surround the golden chedis.
